Ecurity and responsibility

Mountaineering and trekking must be authorized in certain areas by the Ministry of Tourism. But we always make sure that the organizers of an expedition comply with all regulations. It is strongly recommended not to trek alone; the health risks are very high in the higher areas. Furthermore, it is recommended to use only known routes, to stay in groups, to use only reputable agencies and guides, to obtain up-to-date information about the security situation before visiting remote areas. Mountain rescue, if existing, is not comparable to European conditions.

Mountain sickness

Please do not underestimate the risks of altitude sickness during trekking (from approx. 3,000m) and decrease at the first signs (nausea, headache or shortness of breath). In the advanced stage of the disease usually any help comes too late. It should also be borne in mind that helicopter flights (rescue flights) can not always be carried out on time due to the weather and the time of day.
