Botswana's magnificent Okavango Delta in the heart of the newly declared World Heritage Site is the largest inland delta in the world and a maze of deep lagoons, large lakes and hidden, meandering canals. During the annual flood season, the delta stretches over a wide area of over 16,000 km² before shrinking to less than 9,000 km² in the dry season. The freshwater oasis is trapped in a basin of parched Kalahari desert sand and attracts wildlife that depends on the permanent water of this unique environment. Camp Okavango, a unique and exclusive African safari camp, is located on the remote Nxaragha Island. This hidden treasure in the heart of the permanent Okavango Delta offers its guests an incomparable water experience that is possible all year round.
The main area of Camp Okavango consists of a network of interconnected paths that connect two lounge areas, a dining room, a library, a self-service bar and a curio shop. Extensive ramps lead to the lower deck with two open fire pits and comfortable seating areas to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. For the warm summer days there is a third deck with a rim flow swimming pool and a thatched lounge deck. With its open-air design and elevated position, the new Camp Okavango is an environmentally conscious lodge that captures the essence of the Okavango Delta.
