Mongolia has always been careful not to erect little or no permanent buildings in its huge game reserves. Except for the yurt camps of the nomads and the few tourist camps, which usually do not leave any traces in nature, man-made structures are not welcome. The Three Camel Lodge is an exception here. The round tents are firmly anchored on platforms and the main house was made of heavy stone and wood. So why is the lodge allowed to remain here as the only one far and wide? The answer: sustainability.

The lodge serves not only as accommodation but also as a research center for archeology, nature and wildlife observation to counter poaching and prevent the unauthorized removal of dinosaur remains. The main house was built in the Buddhist style without using a nail. The entire system is operated with solar power and some water treatment systems have been installed to avoid producing plastic waste during water transport.

The yurts (or also called ger in Mongolian language) are all very authentic with a modern twist or two. The deluxe tents also have their own bathroom, family tents can also be offered. The Three Camel Lodge is definitely not to be missed on an adventurous journey through Mongolia.
