An extraordinary trekking trip in a country that is criss-crossed by valleys and high passes and is shaped by the culture of Tibetan Buddhism. Hike through characterful landscapes and enjoy a wonderful stay on a houseboat in Kashmir. A trip to a very special world in the Himalayas!
Leh, the changing capital of Ladakh, is the starting point of your trekking trip through the beautiful landscapes of northern India.
You will visit the former capital of the country, Shey, and marvel at the ruins of the old royal palace. Enjoy the grandiose view of the swampy grassy expanse of the Indus plain, which glows in rich red and yellow in autumn.
You will get a deeper insight into the Buddhist way of life with a unique and at the same time spectacular visit to the Hemis Monastery. It is the largest and most prosperous monastery in Ladakh and is perched high on a mountain above the Indus Valley, with a breathtaking view of the surrounding, barren mountain peaks.
Keep going and you will get to your trekking starting point, Lamayuru. Your trek takes you through wild, rugged valleys, idyllic villages, high passes and unique landscapes. Always there: the wonderful view of the snow-capped peaks and the colorful prayer flags waving in the wind.
Climb the summit of the Konzke Mountain, enjoy the view of the highest peak in Ladakh, the Stok Kangri at over 6,000 meters, and feel proud and liberated when you catch a glimpse of the valleys through which you have already hiked from above. A thousand steps and a peak ascent later, you are already in Chilling. The fascinating artistic village is home to the best gold and coppersmiths in the country. Practically every house has its own blacksmith's workshop and the art has been passed on from one generation to the next. Experience for yourself this captivating little village in the middle of nowhere, which is always good for a surprise. Via Mulbek you finally reach Srinagar, a city in the northernmost Indian state of Kashmir. Relax here on your houseboat, visit the fairytale-like, colorful gardens and lean back on a boat trip on Dal Lake - a relaxing way to end your trekking trip.
