Java, located between Sumatra and Bali, is the most populous island on earth. Over half of the Indonesian population lives in Java and there are a handful of Indonesia's most exclusive hotels. The geographic and economic heart of Indonesia, Java, is generally divided into the east, central and west of the island and has two but contrasting capitals, Jakarta and Yogyakarta. In addition to the natural beauties and archaeological sites, Yogyakarta, Central Java, one of the most impressive temple complexes and Borobudur one of the most magnificent Buddhist monuments in the world.
Decorated with 504 stone-carved Buddha statues and arranged from above similar to a mandala (geometric pattern), this is a must see when visiting Java. Jakarta may be the capital, but Yogyakarta is a living example of Javanese heritage, away from the crowds. It is in these two cities that modern man meets the soul of Indonesia most. In Yogyakarta, the Zen atmosphere is complemented with art and culture all around, traditional dance shows are commonplace, and buildings like the 18th century royal complex are still inhabited. East Java, is the most sparsely populated of the three regions and offers some of the most surreal landscapes in Indonesia. The luna-esque and awe-inspiring panoramas of Mount Bromo bear witness to this. For the more adventurous, exploring the rocky peaks and the smoldering volcanic landscape is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

We are back from our great Costa Rica vacation. Thank you for the excellent organization! Everything went smoothly. The choice of accommodation was excellent, with the Origins Lodge in particular being unique, even spectacular. The guides were also consistently competent and we were particularly impressed by Edgar, whom you specifically mentioned.
We will be happy to contact you again on one of our next vacations.
