Luxury travel India. India - wild and casual. Experience unforgettable moments. Barefoot luxury, active and relaxed. Travel like Dr. Julia Malchow. Although not all tents are the same shape, each tent is spacious and consists of a bedroom, a bathroom and a veranda. The premium tents of the Presidential Suite at Thiksey Camp in Ladakh have an additional wing that can accommodate up to 2 extra beds, a bed and a seating area or a complete lounge area. All tents have large windows so that all guests can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Air conditioning and heating are also available depending on the location and needs.
A country with varied landscapes, from white deserts to blue lakes, snow-capped mountains and lush valleys. Ladakh is like a dream trapped in a snow globe, a wild milieu between the Kunlun Mountains and the Himalayas. Spend the night at Chamba Camp in Thiksey, surrounded by a pristine landscape in ever-changing colors. There is a Buddhist word that best describes such a utopia: “Shangri La”, an earthly paradise - an oasis of peace and tranquility. This word best describes the camp and its many bespoke services. The blessed and serene hamlet of Thiksey is at an altitude of 3,500 meters.
The design of the camp was inspired by the researchers of the British Raj, who came to these remote border regions to undertake a covert operation to map this unknown region in order to capture Ladakh and make it “one of their posts”. The influence can be seen in the many period pieces of furniture that are in your tent, such as the Kipling stool, the Roorkee chair, the Jorhat chair, the Wheeler Cot, etc. All of this and more enclosed in the periphery of a beautiful, private one Area that makes it a really perfect Shangri La for you.
Dear Julia,
here is my almost traditional feedback mail. Long and detailed, but hopefully valuable for you.
As always, it was a great holiday and in these special times, appreciated even more by all of us than the other great trips. For me it was one of our best family vacations ever, because we had such a harmonious time as a family. Here in Hamburg we hang out together 24/7, but Lapland was different. Great conversations, many shared experiences during activities and above all a lot of childlike joy in nature and the simple things like sliding down the hill from the Safari Camp with plastic sheeting.
