Luxury and individual travel Peru. Peru - wild and casual. Experience unforgettable moments. Barefoot luxury, active and relaxed. Travel like Dr. Julia Malchow.
Spend an eventful time on the impressive swimming islands of the Uros. Ancient traditions and a tribe that the modern world has spared. You have never been so close to a foreign culture.
Immerse yourself in the culture of a country. In so-called "homestays" you live together with your hosts - for a few days - in their typical estancias, farms or villages. Find out more about the daily way of life and, if you are interested, use the opportunity to actively lend a hand and thus develop a deeper understanding of the population and their way of life.
With this travel module we present you an accommodation option that brings you as close as possible to the authentic Titicaca region. Lake Titicaca itself is the highest navigable lake in the world (3821m). The dimensions of this legendary body of water are more than impressive: It is 194 km long, 65 km wide and has an average depth of 140 m to 180 m, a maximum depth of 280 m. The lake is vital for all locals: It is an extremely practical warmth - and water storage, which enables an almost year-round harvest. The lifestyle around the lake is unique in the world, and with this home-stay variant you have the opportunity to immerse yourself directly in the life of the local residents. You will spend the night with the Uros, on the hand-made floating islands. The islands, the dwellings and the ships of this traditional tribe are made entirely of reeds. This experience is unique in the world and limited to this area, which is why the famous islands are definitely worth a trip.
Today you drive to Lake Titicaca on the Capachica Peninsula to Llachon. Here you get a very lively insight into rural life and the everyday life of the residents on the shores of Lake Titicaca. The women in Llachon proudly demonstrate their traditional weaving techniques and you may even see the repair work on the islands themselves, which have to be constantly maintained. You will get a traditional dinner and spend the night in simple but cozy accommodation with an indigenous host family in a unique location on Lake Titicaca. (Room with toilet and cold water)
Today you take a private boat trip to the little visited Uros Islands and on to the island of Amantani. You have time for hikes or the opportunity to participate in the everyday life of the host family. Here, too, you can feel what drives this people, where your roots are and what values you represent. You will spend the night in simple but comfortable accommodation with an indigenous host family on the island of Amantani, including dinner (no bathroom, toilet and cold running water in the courtyard).
These two days are a great addition to any trip to Peru, and they will bring you some wonderful hours and, above all, unforgettable memories.
